The jig for knife sharpening comprises an adjustable clamp (1) for holding knives of any thickness and an adjustable stop (2). You adjust the jig to the knife thickness with the screw (3) and lock by tightening the knob (4).
The jig rests on the Universal Support. The exact edge angle is set by rotating the stop or with the Micro Adjust on the Universal Support.
The Universal Support is normally placed vertically for knife sharpening towards the edge. Short knives can also be ground away from the edge with the Universal Support placed horizontally.
If you want to sharpen very small knives which do not fit in this jig add the new Tormek Small Knife Holder (sold separately) to use with the SVM-45.
Owners of older SVM-45 jigs please note: the adjustment head of this jig has been upgraded to a friction lock, replacing the locking screw set in the handle of older jigs. No more need to loosen and tighten the screw for each new setup! To upgrade to the new head, be sure to also order the o-ring (#3560) which creates the necessary friction, along with the new head (#3050). All parts are available in the TORMEK replacement parts section of this site.
